During Part 1 of Dead Poets' Society, we were introduced to one of the movie's main characters, Todd Anderson (played by Ethan Hawke). Todd transferred to Welton Academy because his older brother, "one of Welton's finest," had attended Welton. Todd seems to live in his brother's shadow and doesn't speak out much. Although reluctant, his roommate, Neil, convinces Todd to join the Dead Poets' Society.Todd is one of the characters who experiences fear in this movie. What do you think Todd's fear is?If you can remember one, provide an example from the movie to support your answer.
Todd is afraid of going wrong, of being judged and not living up to expectations. From this sprouts the fear of speaking in public. He could communicate something wrong and the first three fears I listed could be realized.
