Stage Fright Article

Read the article from your yellow Fear Packet called, "Stage fright? Don't collapse--confront it." After reading the article, comment on any three things from the article. It can relate to previous fear discussions we've had or something new. Be sure to number each of your responses.

1. I though it was interesting that Winston Churchill blanked out when he was giving a speech to the Parliament.
2. This article can relate to how the number one fear is public speaking.I think it's weird that public speaking fear is before death.
3.In the article, I learned some cool things that I didn't know about.It's funny that people actually picture the audience naked. If I did that, I would probably start laughing.

1. Many people get very nervous when they have to talk to a large group of people.

2. A couple of times when you can get very nervous is when you are giving a speech or talking in a play.

3. You get even more nervouse if a teacher, coach or someone you look up to is watching you do something infront of a large group.

#1 it sounds so stupid that a rock band singer collapesed from stage fright even though he had probably been on stage many times

#2 I didn't know that people in the US have worse stage fright than lots of other countries

1. I thought it unusual that singers Carly Simon and Andy Partridge, have both collapsed on stage from stage fright!
2. Also, I never would have guessed that Winston Churchill forgot what his speech was, while telling the Parliament.
3. Lastly, I don't see how society's number one fear would be public speaking, even before death or something more extreme!

1.I think that the woman who fainted on stage was definitely not the only person who would do that. I think many people get so freaked out that they can'y handle the pressure, and they just faint.
2. I also agree that if you aren't comfortable speaking in front of many people that you should write out a speech, and bring it up with you.
3. I think it was interesting that Louw made people go in a room alone, and then add all the other people after they got more comfortable. I really think that it is weird to touch the walls, but if it helps that is all that matters I guess.

1. Winston Chirchill is known for his great speaching infront of an audiance and I think that its fuuny that he blanked out.
2. What Winston Chirchill did tells me that even important people have fear.
3. I've never been infront of an audiance, but I don't know if I would actually picture everyone naked.

1.The first thing I thought was interesting was that people actually picture people in the audience naked or in their underwear. I never knew people did that.
2. People think public speaking is scarier than death!
3.You tend to get more nervous if someone asks you to do something in front of larger crowds.

1. A LOT of people tend to get nervous before delivering a speech.
2. I thought it was interesting at the very beginning when it said "April seemed a long way off..." because a lot of people may actually say yes more often if they are given a lot of time to prepare.
3. Another thing that I thought was interesting was that the fear is actually making a fool out of yourself, not talking in front of an audience.

1. I thought it was very interesting the someone as famous as Winston Churchill forgot the speech that he memorized when he was giving the speech to hte Parliament.
2. I also thought it was interesting that Americans are more afraid of public speaking that Europeans are.
3. I didn't realize that it mattered a lot where you put your hands during a public speech. You can't cross them or put them behind you because it might give off a certain message.

I think that kids get stage fright because they cant handle the fact the people will be sitting there watching them as they do something in front of them. Mainly i think there afraid to mess up infront of alotog people.
